By classifying e-mails, POPFile does more than the average spam filter. The programme runs in the background, checking all incoming messages and then sorting them as you wish, meaning you can separate business and private e-mails. Access to the unusual user interface is made via the Web browser by entering the IP address 127.01.0.1, Port 8080. This address can however be altered. POPFile works as proxy server – the email programme creates a connection with POPFile, allowing it to connect to the e-mail server. The tool loads the mails from the server, analyses and categorises them and passes them on to the e-mail client. The filters must be correctly set up for POPFile to function preperly.
